Each week, we'll be bringing you a list of players who are no longer "ownable" in many fantasy football leagues.
Obviously, this list has to be interpreted with a grain of salt, depending on the type of league you play in. If you're in a 14 team league with 5 bench spots, many of these players should continue to be owned.
Let's get to it...
Eight Players to Consider Cutting in Week 9
Week 1’s output of 121 yards seems to be an apparition as the Redskin has yet to tally a touchdown and has seemingly been eclipsed on the depth chart by rookie Matt Jones. Dump him.
On August 31st, RantSports reported that Melvin Gordon is “dripping with bust potential” while other pundits compared Gordon to the second-coming of Trent Richardson. With the continued steady production from Danny Woodhead and the lack of support coming from his own coach, Melvin Gordon continues the trend of former superstar Wisconsin Badger running backs failing miserably in the NFL. Déjà vu all over again….
Orleans Darkwa has now emerged as the Giants’ fourth running back and Coach Tom Coughlin expressed interest in involving him more in the run game. Jennings’ lone touchdown came in week one and aside from a solid Week 4 performance, Jennings has been inconsistent in both performance and touches. Leave him at the altar.
Here is a tight end with name recognition but lacking production. Cameron owners had to wait until Week 6 to see him score double digit points (mind you, 10.5 points) and his lone touchdown came the same week. Sorry Jordan, maybe you should have stuck with basketball?
Yes, he missed three games due to injury in an half of his games prior to Sunday’s pathetic performance, he tallied double digit points but Ellington’s 3 carries for 0 yards performance on Sunday was the nail in the coffin. Chris Johnson is a top 3 fantasy running back and as long as Ellington has to fight for carries with rookie David Johnson, he’s not worth a roster spot.
Do I really have to explain? Coupled with Andrew Luck’s woes and a lost step, Andre Johnson is a shell of his former self. No need to tough it out with this guy
7 & 8) Ameer Abdullah and Joique Bell
Goodness gracious. The number of pundits who praised Ameer Abdullah’s breakaway speed and Joique Bell’s touchdown vulture ability have been stymied by fumbles and brittle bones. I wouldn’t touch these two with a 12 foot poll.
