Tyler Stephenson Leaves Game After Home-Plate Collision
3 years agoCincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (head, neck) left the game early on Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres when he was involved in a collision with first baseman Luke Voit at home plate in the first inning. Stephenson laid on the ground for around 30 seconds and returned to the dugout after slowly moving his neck and being checked for a concussion. The Reds lead the majors with 12 players on the injured list, and they put both infielders Jonathan India and Mike Moustakas on the IL before Tuesday's game. There's a chance Stephenson could be the latest Reds player to hit the IL, but at the very least, he's unlikely to be in Wednesday's lineup. Aramis Garcia is the only other catcher on the Reds active big-league roster.
