Abraham Toro Goes On IL, Taylor Trammell Recalled
3 years agoThe Seattle Mariners placed infielder Abraham Toro (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday and recalled outfielder Taylor Trammell from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move. Seattle also selected infielder Sam Haggerty's contract from Tacoma and designated outfielder Steven Souza Jr. for assignment. Toro suffered a sprained left shoulder on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, and it's unclear exactly when he'll be ready to return to the Mariners major league roster. The 25-year-old was hitting just .179/.237/.366, but he did have six home runs and 13 RBI in 38 games played. Trammell is starting in right field and batting ninth on Sunday against Red Sox right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. He'll have to prove himself to remain in the majors after hitting .160/.256/.359 with a 42.1% strikeout rate in 51 games in 2021.
