Mike Soroka Throws Three Perfect Innings In Rehab Start
2 years agoAtlanta Braves right-hander Mike Soroka (Achilles) threw three perfect innings in his first minor league rehab start for High-A Rome on Tuesday, striking out eight of the nine hitters he faced on 31 pitches (25 for strikes). Soroka hadn't pitched in a game since 2020 before his start on Tuesday, and it was a nice first outing. The 25-year-old will have a lengthy rehab assignment because of his long layoff, but there's still a chance he could make it back to Atlanta's starting rotation later this year or in the postseason. In his last full season in 2019, Soroka was an All-Star and went 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 142 strikeouts and 41 walks in 174 2/3 innings over 29 starts. It's unlikely that Soroka will be of much use in fantasy leagues down the stretch in 2022.
