James Paxton Leaves Rehab Start With Lat Tightness
2 years agoBoston Red Sox left-hander James Paxton (lat, elbow) was pulled from his minor league rehab start on Thursday in the Florida Complex League after just two batters faced due to lat tightness, according to a source. It was Paxton's first appearance in a game since having Tommy John surgery last April, so it's not a great sign, although it's not related to his left elbow. The 33-year-old will most likely have to pause his rehab assignment, and he's not a realistic option to return to the Red Sox for the remainder of the 2022 season. Boston will likely move forward with an eye on 2023 for Paxton. The veteran southpaw has made only six starts since the beginning of the 2020 season due to injuries.
