Adbert Alzolay Begins Rehab Assignment
2 years agoChicago Cubs right-hander Adbert Alzolay (shoulder) started his minor league rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Monday and allowed one run while striking out four in three innings pitched. Alzolay has yet to pitch for the Cubs this year after beginning the regular season on the injured list with a strained right lat, but he's getting closer to making his 2022 season debut. The 27-year-old will surely have at least a couple more rehab outings before he becomes a realistic option to join Chicago's starting rotation for the stretch run. In 125 2/3 innings for the Cubbies in 2021, Alzolay went 5-13 with a 4.58 ERA (4.65 FIP), a 1.16 WHIP and a 128:34 K:BB in 29 appearances (21 starts).
