2 years agoThe Boston Red Sox placed first baseman Eric Hosmer (back) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and recalled outfielder Franchy Cordero from the minors in a corresponding move. Hosmer is dealing with lower back inflammation and won't be eligible to return to the team until Aug. 31. Since being dealt to Boston by the San Diego Padres at the Aug. 2 trade deadline, Hosmer has gone just 9-for-40 (.225) with no home runs, four RBI and six runs scored in 12 games. Overall, the 32-year-old veteran first baseman has hit .267/.333/.381 with eight home runs, 44 RBI and 38 runs scored in 414 plate appearances over 102 games in 2022. Bobby Dalbec will likely platoon with Cordero at the cold corner now that Hosmer is on the shelf.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
