49ers Don't Want To Trade Jimmy Garoppolo To Seahawks
2 years agoThe San Francisco 49ers haven't made any more progress on a trade for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo as of Monday, according to sources. The Niners would clear $25.5 million in salary cap space if he's released by Tuesday's deadline for roster moves. General manager John Lynch would prefer not to trade Garoppolo to the division-rival Seattle Seahawks. The two teams face off for the first time in Week 2. The 49ers would also prefer not to straight up release Jimmy G, but they may have no choice with no trade partners lined up. Until the 30-year-old has a resolution, he should be avoided in upcoming fantasy drafts. If a QB-needy team like the Seahawks wind up scooping him up if Garoppolo is outright released, he'll become an immediate QB2 option in superflex leagues.
