Anthony Rendon (2B, WAS) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues (Add Immediately in All Leagues for 2B help)

ANALYSIS: 2013 Statistics: 394 PA, .265/.329/.396, 7 HR, 35 RBI, 40 Runs, 1SB

At only 45% ownership, chances are that the National's second baseman Anthony Rendon is still available in your fantasy league. A popular sleeper among second basemen coming into 2014, Rendon's most obvious contribution to fantasy is his batting average. Consistently hitting above .300 in the minor leagues, Rendon batted .265 in his rookie debut last season - impressive work for a player who's still only 23 years old. While he lacks any real speed, he has some power to go with the average - enough that at least 10 home runs should be within his grasp this year. Speaking of which, Rendon had a nice day at the plate today while going 2-for-5 with 4 RBI and a long ball on opening day. When you factor in his RBI and Run potential, due to the formidable lineup he's batting in, Rendon's name is an attractive one. If you're looking for help at 2B or MI, or have extra bench space to stash someone, pickup Rendon off the waiver wire while you still can - even in standard leagues.
