Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones felt the need to assure the media and fans that running back Joseph Randle was not and has not been benched following his hear-fumble at the goal-line against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
"We did not bench him," Jones said, according to the Dallas Morning News. "We just wanted McFadden in there at that time. Seriously, it was not a bench."
Randle has actually exceeded expectations thus far this season as the Cowboys lead back and should resume those duties when the team takes on the New England Patriots in week 5. However, McFadden is more explosive than Randle and is a bigger threat out of the passing game, which is why nobody should be surprised if he starts to see more playing time.
With all that said, continue to start Randle in all fantasy football leagues and continue to keep McFadden on the bench for the time being. With Lance Dunbar out for the season with a torn ACL, McFadden may be worth starting in week 6 in PPR leagues, but wait and see how the team uses him in week 5 against the Patriots.
