Will Adrian Peterson, Jeremy Maclin and Antonio Gates Play On Sunday?

No words scare fantasy football fans more than “game-time decision.” With the injury report lists growing each week during the grueling NFL season, we’re keeping a close eye on three specific star players listed as questionable for Week 7.

Adrian Peterson was downgraded to questionable Saturday afternoon as he’s dealing with an illness, and he is still listed as questionable. ESPN reported there is little doubt the Minnesota Vikings star running back will be able to suit up for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Peterson has a great matchup and is one of the best running backs on the board this weekend. Always double check before the games to be certain but as of now, expect Peterson on the field and look for him to have a huge game.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin suffered a concussion last week but things are trending upwards. Head coach Andy Reid told reporters on Saturday that Maclin has passed the NFL's concussion protocol testing and is optimistic he will play against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Chiefs have lost Jamaal Charles for the season and desperately need Maclin on the field. Kansas City has very little offensive firepower so Maclin will see a lot of targets any time he’s on the field. For fellow bitter Travis Kelce fantasy owners, this does limit his prior high potential as the only other offensive talent on the team.

One of the more annoying injuries this week has to be San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates. Since making his season debut in Week 5 following a suspension, Gates has looked outstanding with nine receptions and over ninety yards in each game played. His status for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders is looking like a true  game-time decision. Gates had been dealing with a sprained MCL and stated he’s unsure if he can play against the Raiders. It’s especially heartbreaking to know Gates would be playing an Oakland team that is by far the worst in the NFL at defending the tight end. Aside from Owen Daniels, every tight end to face Oakland this season has dominated them.

If Gates misses the game, Ladarius Green will be one of the best tight end plays of the week. The problem is this wil be one of the evening games and you’ll have to make a decision earlier before knowing the official status of Gates. The NFL scheduling gods have cursed us once again. Green is the safer play as he will still have value if Gates is in uniform. Stay alerted to news updates as much as you can before making a decision on the Chargers tight ends.
