Seahawks Sign Bryce Brown and an Update on Victor Cruz and Kevin White

The Seattle Seahawks have signed running back Bryce Brown. He joins a crowded backfield with Marshawn Lynch, Thomas Rawls and Fred Jackson.

When Brown was with the Eagles and the Bills he showed flashes of super talent. At only 24-years-old, he still has plenty of time to claim a starting job somewhere in the NFL, although it seems unlikely that it’ll be in Seattle. He has always struggled with ball security and he tends to cut outside too often, but with the right coaching staff he has the ability to be a starting back.

He has no fantasy value as a member of the Seahawks this season. It’s possible the team decides to release him after just a couple days. However, this news proves that NFL teams still have Brown on their radar.

The New York Giants are continuing to say that receiver Victor Cruz has “no timetable at all right now.” And with that said, if you still own him in any redraft leagues – go ahead and release him. There’s no longer a reason to hold onto a player who may or may not even see the field this season.

I’d still hold onto him in dynasty and keeper leagues, but I’d be trying to trade him if possible. Cruz will turn 29 on Nov. 11 and I’m starting to have doubts that he’ll ever make a full recovery. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants moved on without him in the offseason if he’s unable to return this year.

With all that said, Cruz does have the potential to become a low-end WR2 if he ever does return to the field. He has always been one of Eli Manning’s favorite targets and one of the league’s best slot players. But his health is a major concern and makes him super risky.

Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Kevin White has admitted that he is unlikely to play this season. The first-round pick suffered a shin injury before the season which forced the team to put him on the PUP list.

It’s still possible that White returns to the field in December, but it seems unlikely at this point. Let him sit on the waiver wire in redraft leagues. But don’t dare release him in dynasty leagues. White is very talented and should have a long and successful career with the Bears across from Alshon Jeffery. They could eventually become the best wide receiver duo in the league.
