New York Jets running back Chris Ivory was not seen practicing on Wednesday due to a quad injury. His fantasy owners should keep a close eye on his status for week 8 against the Oakland Raiders. As of right now we believe he should be able to play. After all, he did play through the injury last week against the New England Patriots.
However, Ivory has already missed one week this season with a minor injury, so it’s possible the team will decide to give him a week off to rest.
If Ivory plays, he can be considered a RB1 against the Raiders. If he doesn’t play, Bilal Powell, Zac Stacy and Stevan Ridley would likely share the workload. But since they would all see playing time, I wouldn’t recommend any of them as a fantasy option.
Ivory has made his fantasy owners very happy thus far this season. He has 100 rushes for 501 yards and four touchdowns. He’s averaging five yards a carry. He has also hauled in eight passes for 74 yards and another touchdown.
In other news, Eddie Lacy is reportedly healthy again. Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said the running back’s ankle injury isn’t “affecting him anymore.”
That’s great news for his fantasy football owners because he has been nothing but a disappointment through the first half of the season. In fact, he has been outplayed by his backup James Starks on many occasions.
Lacy has 67 rushes for just 260 yards and one touchdown thus far this season. Considering he was drafted in the first five picks in most fantasy drafts, his production has made his fantasy owners furious.
Lacy can be considered a RB2 in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos. If he really is fully healthy, he should be a big part of the Packers game plan. In addition, Starks is dealing with an injury of his own and could miss the Broncos game on Sunday.
If Starks doesn’t play, Lacy should see 20+ carries and lots of targets in the passing game.
On the other hand, if Starks doesn’t play in Week 8 and Lacy is unable to perform well, his starting job would likely be in jeopardy once Starks is able to return.
Keep a close eye on Lacy’s Week 8 performance. It should tell us a lot about how to view Lacy going forward this season.
