ANALYSIS: After the Bye week to rest up and get healthy, I think Matt Jones is poised to have a solid second half. DeSean Jackson is back and that should help Kirk Cousins spread the field a bit. Jordan Reed should also help move the chains and keep opposing defenses honest against the pass. This obviously depends on Cousins' ability to effectively use those options, but if he does it could mean good things for Matt Jones.
As it is, Matt Jones has been getting virtually all of the goal line work so that boosts Jones' ceiling. Let's take a look at the way Matt Jones has dominated carries lately though. In week 7, Jones was on the field for 46 snaps, while Alfred Morris only saw 10 snaps. It's hard to say if this will continue, and the return of Chris Thompson could shake things up a bit. However, I think Jones is the future for Washington so they are going to let him get a bigger share. Morris has not looked particularly effective and Thompson will be more of a factor on passing downs and in blowouts.
I've mentioned this in other articles, being the lead back on a team has value. With the Injury-pocalypse that occurred in the NFL last week, you can do a lot worse than Matt Jones.
