Matt Forte Practices and Titans Activate David Cobb

Every fantasy football owner with Matt Forte on his or her team will be extremely pleased to hear that the Chicago Bears running back did manage to get in a limited practice on Wednesday.

For the past couple of seasons Forte has been one of the best fantasy football backs in all of football. Unfortunately a knee injury forced the usually injury-free back to miss Week 9's Monday Night Football matchup against the San Diego Chargers.

His status for Week 10 against the St. Louis Rams is still up in the air, but it sounds like the 29-year-old must be recovering quickly for him to be participating in practice already.

If he plays on Sunday against the Rams, he should be considered a must-start RB1 in all fantasy football leagues. If he sits out another week, his backup Jeremy Langford should be considered a RB2. But the good news is that it sounds like Forte will be ready to go come fantasy football playoff time, and that’s the best news his fantasy football owners have probably heard all day.

Through the seven games he has played thus far this season, Forge has 548 yards on 136 carries for an average of four yards per carry. He also has two touchdowns on the ground. In addition he has hauled in 25 passes for 219 yards and another touchdown.

In other running back news, the Tennessee Titans have activated rookie running back David Cobb from the injured reserve designated for return list. He was placed on the list before the season with a calf injury.

The team has seemingly given up on second-year player Bishop Sankey and has handed over the starting running back duties to Antonio Andrews. The team also uses Dexter McCluster a lot, especially in passing situations.

However, Cobb will likely get plenty of opportunities to take the starting job away from Andrews. That might be a more difficult task than it sounds like though. Through the six games he has played in, he has 290 yards on 73 carries for an average of four yards per carry. He also has two rushing touchdowns.

If Cobb is available in any fantasy football leagues as a free agent, he should be picked up and stashed on the bench. However, do not start him until he sees live action and the team proves it’s actually going to use him.

In the meantime, Andrews can be considered a RB3 against the Panthers in Week 10.
