ANALYSIS: Anquan Boldin, at the ripe old age of 35, has finished with 93 receiving yards in back-to-back games with Blaine Gabbert under center. Can we call it a comeback? Well, that might be pushing it. Boldin did, after all, have a pair of 100-yard games earlier this season with Colin Kaepernick leading the team. But fantasy football isn't solely about past performances, and in the "what have you done for me lately" category, Boldin had little to show.
The 13-year veteran sat out Weeks 8 and 9 with a hamstring issue and was unavailable in Week 10 while the 49ers were on a bye. That allowed Boldin to fall off the fantasy radar, but he's trending upward now. In the two games he's played with new starter Gabbert, the two have shown a nice chemistry. Boldin led San Francisco in targets (11), receptions (eight) and yards (93) in Sunday's loss to his former team, the Arizona Cardinals.
Boldin will have value as long as he continues to be Gabbert's top target, and there's little reason to think that won't be the case moving forward. If he receives roughly 10 targets per game, that will give him a WR3 floor. San Francisco also faces a number of middling pass defenses over the final weeks, including Cleveland and Detroit, further enhancing his potential value.
