Jacob deGrom was the bomb dot com in 2015. After coming out of nowhere in 2014, he was absolutely electric in his second year. deGrom's coming out party was made official in the All Star Game with a 10 pitch, three strikeout effort. It's hard not to get excited about just how high his ceiling is.
Many are quick to crown Matt Harvey as the ace of the Mets' rotation, but I don't think deGrom is getting enough love. deGrom posted a 2.54 ERA and a 2.92 xFIP, both of which are very good. He also had a 9.66 K/9, which is excellent as well. There's really nothing to not like here. He pitches in the N.L. East, he's on a team that just made a World Series run, and his home park will help him too.
There is an understandable concern over the amount of innings deGrom threw in just his second MLB season, but this guy is a stud. I think deGrom will be a top 10 pitcher in 2016 and has top five upside. Needless to say if he falls to you at a favorable pick, scoop him up FAST.
