NBA Rookie Fantasy Profile: Bam Adebayo

Analysis: Adebayo was a player that teams either seemed to fall in love with or absolutely hate. There were reports that some teams saw him as a potential top-10 pick, while other teams had a second round grade on him. It only takes one team to take a chance on a player, though, and the Miami Heat were the team to go all in on the true center from Kentucky.

Adebayo was not the focal point of the Kentucky offense, but he displayed the skillset of an old school big man during his freshman campaign. He averaged 13.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 30.1 minutes per game. He also shot 59.9% from the field and 65.3% from the free throw line. Adebayo did not attempt a single three-point shot, though.

Adebayo will immediately see minutes at the backup center position for the Heat. With that being said, he will likely split time and will not be a major factor this season. He displayed during the Summer League that he is somewhat NBA ready, though, averaging 16.7 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.4 blocks through seven games. His production will rely heavily on how many minutes he is able to carve out in the rotation.

Bottom Line: Adebayo could see backup center minutes. If he does, he will produce points, rebounds, and blocks. He's a player to stash in deeper leagues in case of an injury to Hassan Whiteside.
