Aaron Jones Pleads No Contest to Pot-Related Charge
7 years agoGreen Bay running back Aaron Jones pleaded no contest to a marijuana-related charge that resulted from a traffic stop last year. Jones had been pulled over for speeding when the officer smelled marijuana. Jones admitted to smoking some earlier in the day, but no drugs were found on his possession. He later went to a hospital for a blood test. Jones could be suspended, however, the NFL isn’t expected to act until the legal case is resolved. Jones flashed last year as a rookie. He was clearly the most dynamic runner on the roster and has far more upside than fellow running backs Ty Montgomery or Jamaal Williams. Jones did struggle with pass protection and injuries last year that resulted in him losing snaps to the more plodding Williams. Despite the talent, Jones was going to need to have a couple things break his way this year in order to rise above the morass of Green bay’s running-back-by-committee. A suspension to start the year would certainly hurt that effort.
