7 years agoAt several points this offseason, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has hinted that he has been unhappy that he has not been included in discussions related to certain personnel decisions. Chief amongst those instances were Green Bay’s decision to move on from quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt as well as Rodgers’ close friend, wide receiver Jordy Nelson. Now there are reports that this discontent may prove to be an obstacle in getting Rodgers a contract extension. It is unclear how much of a role Rodgers wishes to have in front-office decisions. It seems like he would merely like to be looped in to what is happening. Regardless, Green Bay does not have much incentive to include him. Rodgers' contract is not up for another two years. The current negotiation goal is simply to put Rodgers’ salary near the top of the quarterback market in order to keep the peace. In the long run, these issues will likely only be a road bump towards a long-term solution.--Tyger McGuiggan
