7 years agoDetroit Tigers pitching prospect Matt Manning made his season debut for Class A West Michigan on Friday after beginning the season the disabled list with an oblique strain. Manning struck out the first nine batters he faced and 11 overall in 3 2/3 innings. Manning did walk three batters and allowed two runs on two hits, but overall it was a very fine performance. Manning, 20, was the ninth overall pick in the 2016 draft but has struggled with his command early in the year. When is right he is cruising, but when he is not, he will have rough outings. The sky is the limit for Manning once he becomes more consistent. Manning is still a few years away from his major league debut.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
