7 years agoOakland Athletics reliever Yusmeiro Petit was placed on bereavement leave due to the passing of his mother, according to Martin Gallegos of The Mercury News. Actually, Petit was informed of his mother's passing before Monday's game against the Texas Rangers. Amazingly, with his mind and heart elsewhere, Petit pitched in the game and did very well; he went 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and no runs.
