7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Mike Mayers was called up to join the Cardinals bullpen. Mayers comes up to take the roster spot of Carlos Martinez (lat strain) who went on the disabled list. Mayers will work out of the bullpen for a few days but the Cardinals will likely need to make another move once Martinez's spot in the rotation comes up. Mayers has been up and down several times already this season, but he's been solid out of the pen for the Cardinals when he's been there, posting a 1.86 ERA in 9 2/3 innings of big league work.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
