7 years agoNew York Jets running backs coach Stump Mitchell expects running back Elijah McGuire, who had 492 yards from scrimmage and 3.6 yards per carry as a rookie, to be the team's third-down back in 2018. “Eli looks fantastic to be perfectly honest,” Mitchell said. “I’ll tell you who I see Eli as — and he’s in the Hall of Fame. Eli has the skill set to be a LaDainian Tomlinson if he was given that opportunity. That’s not what presents itself to him at this particular point in time. But skill set, he can do it all. He can catch. He can run. He can run routes as a receiver. He just happens to be here … and I’m glad we got him.” It's hefty praise, but McGuire has the opportunity to see more third-down work than Bilal Powell, making him a late-round flier in PPR leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
