6 years agoOakland Raiders wide receiver Griff Whalen has been released by the team, according to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Whalen has a turf toe injury and is going to be out for about four weeks, but is eligible to re-sign with the Raiders in Week 7. Whalen has been competing for a receiver spot, which got a bit of clarity this week when the Raiders trade Ryan Switzer to the Steelers. Whalen's release likely means Seth Roberts will serve as the No. 4 receiver.--Tom Vecchio - RotoBaller
