Jamison Crowder Adds Punt Returner To Job Description
6 years agoWashington Redskins wide receiver Jamison Crowder will be the team's main punt returner starting in Week 2 when the 'Skins face the Indianapolis Colts. Crowder returned punts for the 'Skins the past three seasons, but head coach Jay Gruden decided to go with rookie Trey Quinn this season. Quinn suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1 and was placed on Injured Reserve. Crowder's best season as a return man came in 2016, where he ranked fourth in the NFL with a 12.1 yard average. He has returned one punt for a touchdown (2016) and averages 7.6 yards per opportunity for his career. The fourth-year pro got off to quiet start to the season last week, hauling in three of four targets for just 32 yards. Going against a shaky Colts secondary -- they gave up two scores to wide receivers in Week 1 -- Crowder should be in the mix as a flex play for fantasy players.
