Carson Wentz Directs Eagles To Win
6 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz didn't put up spectacular numbers, but he did what was necessary to propel the Eagles to a 20-16 come-from-behind victory over the Colts. Wentz, who was making his first appearance in more than nine months, tossed a touchdown pass on the Eagles opening offensive possession and then led the team on a 17-play, 11-plus minute game-winning drive. Wentz, aided by a few Colts defensive penalties, completed all eight of his official passes for 51 yards during the game-winning drive that culminated with a Wendell Smallwood four-yard touchdown run with 3:02 left in the game. The No. 2 overall pick in 2016 was 25 of 37 overall for 255 yards along with one touchdown and an interception. He added 10 yards on three carries, although he lost a fumble as well. The third-year pro is only going to get better each time he is out on the field. Wentz should be considered more of a low-end QB1 next week against a strong Titans defense.
