Robby Anderson (WR, NYJ) - Week 4 Waiver Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In 12-Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 56% Of The Leagues

Analysis: New York Jets wide receiver Robby Anderson was expected to build off a solid sophomore season but that has yet to happen. Anderson finished ranked in the top-30 of the league, among wide receivers, in several receiving categories a year ago. The 25-year-old receiver set career-highs with 63 receptions, on 114 targets, for 941-yards and seven touchdowns. The biggest surprise of his development last season was that he demonstrated the ability to make big plays on a consistent basis. Anderson recorded 17 plays of at least 20 yards as he had a team-high 291 yards after the catch.

While the third-year pro is off to a slow start, it isn't time for fantasy owners to panic. Last year, Anderson only had nine receptions at his point of the season and 21 through the first seven games. Granted this season is different than last. Rookie Sam Darnold has replaced veteran Josh McCown behind center and the Jets are running the ball better than they did last year. They also brought in veteran running back Isaiah Crowell and veteran receiver Terrelle Pryor to play an important role in the offense. Plus, Quincy Enunwa -- who missed all of last season -- has taken over as the team's No.1 receiver.

The most troubling aspect of Anderson's slow start is his total lack of involvement in the offense. Anderson has seen just 10 throws come his way this year, which is eight fewer than he saw last year at this point. He does have six receptions and 90 receiving yards as well as a touchdown. But he also has fumbled twice, losing both of them. Anderson did not fumble in 2017.

Week 4's matchup against Jacksonville is not a great matchup for Anderson or the Jets offense. However, you have to figure that Anderson and Darnold will develop chemistry at some point. When that occurs, fantasy football players who own him will be very happy. So, there is no better time than the present to pick him up off the waiver wire if you believe in him and have the ability to be patient.
