6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw is expected to opt out of his contract at the end of this season to gauge free-agent interest, per MLB Network insider Jon Heyman. Kershaw has two years and just over $70 million remaining on his contract. The 30-year-old has dealt with back injuries for the past several seasons and has not started at least 30 games since 2015. However, Kershaw has still been elite on a start-by-start basis from 2016 forward, posting a 2.26 ERA, a 0.91 WHIP, a 9.81 K/9 rate, and a 1.30 BB/9 rate over 74 regular-season starts. He would be a top free-agent and a talent for any team, regardless of increasing injury issues.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
