Jayson Tatum Scores 23 Points In Season Opener
6 years agoBoston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum scored a team-high 23 points in Tuesday's season-opening victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Tatum was 9-for-17 from the floor despite a 1-for-5 mark from deep, with seemingly every attempt near the basket going in for the second-year player. Tatum also grabbed nine rebounds along the way, the best mark of any of Boston's starters, while dishing out three assists. You can't attribute Tatum's performance to Kyrie Irving's struggles either, as Irving still took 14 shot attempts. Tatum looks like someone who could lead this team in scoring, but he'll have a tough test on Friday against the Raptors, the NBA's sixth-best scoring defense last year that's added an elite defensive wing in Kawhi Leonard.
