6 years agoGreen Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling has continued to carve out a bigger and bigger role in Green Bay’s offense. The tall and fast receiver has developed some trust from Aaron Rodgers and saw the second most snaps of any Green Bay receiver last week. Still, it is unclear if he will get enough targets to have any fantasy significance in Week 9 against the New England Patriots. Valdes-Scantling filled in admirably for injured wide receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison but it was assumed he would spend most of his time on the bench when they returned. Instead he saw more snaps than either in Week 8. The number two spot on the depth chart in Green Bay is a valuable role and if Valdes-Scantling locked down the spot he would be a real fantasy asset. However, there just isn’t enough information yet to know for certain that this will be the case. He is worth holding onto but shouldn’t be started if avoidable. He should only be considered a high-risk/high-reward flex play in deep leagues for Week 9.--Tyger McGuiggan
