6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams ran the ball seven times for 34 yards and had two receptions for 20 yards in a Week 9 game against the New England Patriots. The humble stat line was actually a marked improvement in his yards per carry. The best part of his day was simply not being the running back who fumbled the ball late in the game. It seems as though Williams grabbed most of the work that running back Ty Montgomery had been handling. Still, Williams was clearly the second option at running back behind Aaron Jones. Williams needs a heavy workload to be a fantasy relevant player. That is unlikely to happen unless Aaron Jones is injured. He may see a bit more work next week as Green Bay does prefer reliable and consistent players. However, it will be hard for him to overtake Jones considering the gulf between their abilities with the ball in their hands. Williams can be used as a handcuff in deep leagues but does not need to be owned in most fantasy formats.--Tyger McGuiggan
