6 years agoToronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares scored a power-play goal and even-strength goal in Friday's 4-2 road victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He finished with a plus-1 rating and team-high five shots on net while stepping in to block a shot and he also delivered one hit. Johnny T is up to 26 goals on the season, putting him on pace for 56 goals and 95 points with a plus-28 rating. He has seven goals and 11 points over the past six outings. So far, so good in dealing with the pressure cooker of his hometown after signing a huge deal in the offseason. Next up will be a battle against his former employer, the New York Islanders, on Saturday night in Hogtown. He has 298 career goals and could reach the milestone 300th goal against the Isles, which would rankle that team's fanbase even more.--Daniel Dobish
