6 years agoSigned as a veteran to anchor a young squad, San Diego Padres second baseman Ian Kinsler is on track to bat leadoff for the Friars in 2019. Despite offensive numbers that have dipped in three consecutive seasons, Kinsler owns a career .339 on-base percentage and can still play defense at a high level. Despite the recent drop-off, the 36-year-old veteran has posted double-digit steals in each of his 13 big league seasons and averaged 19 home runs per year. Kinsler should start regularly to begin the season and will platoon with infielder Luis Urias once shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. makes his debut.
