Jacob Nix Out Indefinitely With Arm Soreness
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Jacob Nix (arm) has been shut down indefinitely due to arm soreness after tossing four frames last Tuesday. Further tests revealed no structural damage. Padres manager Andy Green postulates Nix could miss anywhere from a few days to a “considerable period of time”. The Padres No. 19 prospect was competing for a spot on the rotation but it appears that endeavor will be postponed. In his brief initial stint in the majors last year, Nix struggled with a 7.02 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 4.5 K/9 in nine starts. There was optimism Nix had enhanced his repertoire during the offseason which could allow him to boost his strikeouts, but even healthy, was nothing more than an intermittent streamer candidate heading into the 2019 season.
