Jake Arrieta Hits The Century Mark In First Start
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta managed to throw 104 pitches through six innings in his first start of the season Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. He departed with a 3-1 lead, allowing a lead with three hits and six walks with six strikeouts over six innings. He threw just 55 of his 104 pitches for strikes, but still got the quality start. He joins Washington's Max Scherzer, Cleveland's Trevor Bauer, L.A.'s Kenta Maeda and Boston's Eduardo Rodriguez as the only pitchers to throw more than 100 pitches in their first start of the 2019 MLB season.
