Jonathan Villar Hits Leadoff Home Run Thursday
6 years agoBaltimore Orioles second baseman Jonathan Villar went 2-for-5 with a single, a solo home run, and two strikeouts in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Yankees. Villar got things off on the right foot, lining a James Paxton fastball over the opposite-field wall to start the bottom of the first inning. The 27-year-old is now hitting .333 with two HR, a double, a triple, four RBI, and a stolen base in 31 plate appearances. Villar is known for his speed but has provided some pop and average at times in his career. His fantasy value should actually be boosted by the fact that he is in a weak lineup, as he should continue to bat at the top of the lineup and will have more chances to get on base throughout the season. He is one of the few O's that fantasy players should not shy away from.
