6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Merrill Kelly allowed just one earned run, four hits and no walks with nine strikeouts across eight innings in a 1-0 loss against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. He threw 70 of his 94 pitches for strikes in the quality start, throwing 17 first-pitch strikes to the 27 batters he faced before turning things over to reliever Jon Duplantier for the ninth inning. Kelly has emerged as a must-start fantasy option in NL-only leagues, and he has some mixed potential if he keeps pitching like this. He'll look for more offensive support in Saturday's scheduled start against the visiting San Diego Padres.--Daniel Dobish
