6 years agoTexas Rangers pitcher Adrian Sampson will fill the rotation spot of injured starter Edinson Volquez (elbow), who will have an MRI this weekend to determine the severity of the right elbow injury he suffered over the weekend. He said if he needs another Tommy John surgery he will retire. At the least, he will need a lengthy stay on the 10-day injured list, so Sampson will get a chance to show what he can do. He is expected to take the ball against Marco Estrada and the Oakland Athletics on Saturday. If you're desperate for AL-only pitching at this early juncture, give Sampson a shot.--Daniel Dobish
