Brian Goodwin Gets Start Against Southpaw On Monday
6 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Brian Goodwin is in the starting lineup Monday night against left-handed starting pitcher J.A. Happ and the New York Yankees. He has a very short history against southpaws this season, but he is 4-for-8 (.500) with a double, a triple and two RBI, so manager Brad Ausmus is rolling the dice and looking for a little more power instead of using Peter Bourjos against the veteran Happ. Overall Goodwin is slashing .346/.435/.615, so Ausmus might simply be rewarding him with more playing time for a job well done. Either way, Goodwin has taken advantage of his playing time and emerged as a solid fantasy play in all AL-only leagues and some deeper mixed formats, too.
