Willie Calhoun Playing Second Base Down On Farm
6 years agoTexas Rangers prospect outfielder Willie Calhoun played nine innings during a game for Triple-A Nashville on Friday night in a game against Iowa. Calhoun was disappointed not to break camp with the big club, but he continues to be blocked in left field by Joey Gallo and designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo at the big-league level. The organization is trying to find another avenue for Calhoun to the bigs, although he is also blocked by Rougned Odor at second. Still, the more positions Calhoun can play, the better for his chances to arrive in the Metroplex sooner rather than later. He has five doubles and five homers through 21 games while posting 11 walks for a nice .875 OPS. Calhoun is a name to file away for AL-only leagues and long-term keeper formats.
