Drew Smyly Might Return On Cinco De Mayo
6 years agoTexas Rangers left-handed starting pitcher Drew Smyly (arm) is dealing with a tired arm, although he has started to play catch again. The hope is that Smyly will be ready to rejoin the rotation on May 5 against the Toronto Blue Jays. RHP Adrian Sampson will make the start on Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates with Smyly on the 10-day injured list. Smyly probably could use the break, as he is 0-2 with a 7.80 ERA and 1.93 WHIP through four poor starts, yielding four or more earned runs in each of his past three outings with 10 walks and 19 hits allowed through 15 innings. His fantasy appeal is limited to the very deepest of AL-only formats at this juncture.
