6 years agoRichard Childress Racing rookie Daniel Hemric raced to a fifth-place finish in Sunday's GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway for the first top-5 finish of his rookie season. His previous best was an 18th-place showing at Infineon Raceway in Phoenix back on March 10. Despite the impressive finish, he still hasn't led a lap in six consecutive races. He'll look to carry over the momentum into Dover next Sunday. He has never made a Cup start at the Monster Mile, he has four Xfinity starts on the Delaware concrete track, posting two top-5 finishes and three top-10 showings with a 6.75 Average-Finish Position.--Daniel Dobish
