6 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Luke Weaver allowed three earned runs, six hits, a walk and five strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. He managed to throw just 56 of his 96 pitches for strikes while hitting one batter and throwing first-pitch strikes to only nine of the 21 batters he faced. His ERA ballooned from 3.33 to 3.73 as a result of the shaky outing, but he is still 2-1 with a 3.73 ERA and 1.24 WHIP overall while registering 36 strikeouts against just seven walks over 31 1/3 innings. His next scheduled start is set for next Sunday in Colorado opposite German Marquez in an unfavorable matchup.--Daniel Dobish
