6 years agoAccording to sources, The Athletic’s Dennis Lin reports the San Diego Padres will call up outfielder Josh Naylor for the weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Naylor, a native Canadian and the Friars No. 9 prospect, will crack the majors for the first time and could see opportunities as the designated hitter. The former first round pick possesses strong hitting acumen but is raw defensively. He had smacked 10 homers with a .916 OPS in 209 Triple-A plate appearances this season. Still just 21 years old, Naylor’s debut could be short-lived, but an interleague series may be ideal to showcase his offensive potential. Due to his uncertain role, Naylor’s only fantasy relevance is as a deep DFS option.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
