5 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Daniel Mengden allowed one earned run, four hits and three walks with six strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday. He labored through the appearance, throwing 52 of 87 pitches for strikes while managing first-pitch strikes to just 13 of the 21 batters he faced. Mengden has made four starts, and heh as allowed just one earned run in each of his past three outings. However, with the exception of May 18 in Detroit, he hasn't lasted longer than 4 1/3 innings. His next scheduled start is set for Wednesday on the road against the Los Angeles Angels.--Daniel Dobish
