Franchy Cordero Transferred To 60-Day IL
5 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Franchy Cordero (quad) was transferred to the 60-day IL on Monday, retroactive to early April. The move allows relief pitcher Kazuhisa Makita to join the 40-man roster as Cordero attempts to comeback from his myriad injuries. The 24-year-old was amidst a rehab assignment from an elbow issue and suffered a left quad injury running the bases. Padres manager Andy Green indicates Cordero is “not close to returning”. This is another unfortunate setback for the promising Cordero but will likely allow outfielder Josh Naylor to remain in the majors, at least until Travis Jankowski’s (wrist) return becomes imminent.
