CJ Abrams Tears Up Rookie Ball, Earns Promotion
5 years agoSince being picked sixth overall in the 2019 draft, San Diego Padres shortstop prospect CJ Abrams has been raking. In 156 rookie ball plate appearances, Abrams registered an absurd .401/.442/.662 slash with three homers and 14 steals. He’s already earned a quick promotion and should finish the season in Low-A. The 18-year-old is a bonafide speed demon with an advanced hit tool. With shortstop occupied by rising star Fernando Tatis Jr. for the foreseeable future, the long-range plan is to find a home for Abrams in center field or second base. With Abrams already slotted as the team’s No. 5 prospect, the dynasty outlook is bright.
