5 years agoSan Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan expects quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to play the entire first half this Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Returning to his first game action since going down with a torn ACL in Week 3 of last season, Garoppolo struggled in 11 snaps last Monday, completing just one of six passes and throwing a pick. With some rust clearly imminent, Shanahan is targeting between 20 and 45 plays for the starting signal-caller as he prepares for the regular season. While there’s no reason to panic in Niner land, it makes sense for Garoppolo to get meaningful reps coming off major knee surgery.
