Josh Naylor Finding His Groove
5 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Josh Naylor went 1-for-4 with two runs and an RBI Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Naylor has enjoyed a mini groove, collecting knocks in seven of eight games and hitting .370 during the process. Since the Friars traded Franmil Reyes, the 22-year-old rookie has been given an extended audition to test his long-term viability in the majors. While he’s scuffled on defense, the latest surge lifts his slash to .259/.318/.425 with seven homers and 53 runs-plus-RBI over 206 plate appearances. Naylor hasn’t hit for much power during his pro career and is a defensive liability, but he could serve as a basement-level DFS play down the stretch.
